.smws - 54.33 - holidays and honeymoons

Little investigation leads us to know this is a 12yo Aberlour that has matured in a refill ex-Bourbon barrel. Quite rare to find an ex-Bourbon Aberlour, since the distillery has a habit of using Sherry dominated or vattings of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks.

60.1% abv, €75, single malt, non-chill filtered, natural colour

Nose: sweet, vanilla, fruity, berries sweet cherries, marshmallows, spicy, citrus, lemon rind, exotic fruits, pineapples, mangos,
Palate: creamy, sweet, vanilla, fruity, sweet berries, cherries, strawberries dipped in sugar, citrus, lemon, lemon cheesecake, exotic fruits, pineapples, mangos
Finish: long, warm, creamy, sweet, lemon cheesecake
Mark: +++++

Conclusion: Honestly, €75-ish is a steal for a Bourbon matured 60.1% Aberlour

More info: distilled on 2 October 2002, matured in refill ex-Bourbon barrel #54.33 for 12 years, filled in 2015 into 163 bottles.
