A Glen Grant whisky from the town of Rothes in the middle of the Speyside area, the runner-up in the Spirit of Speyside blind tasting for drams up to twelve years.

40% abv, €30
single malt

Nose: malty, fruity, green apples, pears, white wine, spicy, star anise, nutty, almonds, sweet, honey, vanilla, floral, honeysuckle, citrus, cookie dough

Palate: sweet, malty, fruit, apple skin, red apples, sweet pears, creamy, cookie dough, nougat

Finish: short, sweet, malty, dry like cinnamon can be,spicy, ginger, white pepper
Mark: +++/++

Conclusion: a very okay daily dram. Dies a little when adding more water, She may pack more punch with an higher abv, like some indie bottlings have done. To get a general idea to know where Glen Grant starts, this is a good start.

.glen grant - 1954 - g&m

A true example of what time and wood can do with a good spirit. 58 years in a cask has matured this whisky to her zenith very nicely, and Gordon & Macphail were there just in time to bottle and share it with us.

We joined in a "whisky for a year" bottle share back in 2014, where we received an smws bottle(share) each month. Good times, I only never got around to taste them until now. A shame really...

.glen grant - 1995 - wemyss malts - in a bluebell wood

From Wemyss Malts, a release of a 1995 Glen Grant. I don't know about bluebell forests, but I can imagine the scent would be wonderful.

51,5% abv, €95, single malt, non-chill filtered, natural colour, single cask

Nose: sweet, caramel, vanilla, liquorice, floral, roses, spicy, wood, fresh fruits, apples, dried fruits, raisins, stone fruits, fresh cut grass, spices, cinnamon, nuts, hazelnuts, almonds, hot chocolate sauce
Palate: sweet, dry, spicy, pepper, citrus, sultanas, floral, heather, fruits, pears, sweet melons, dried fruit, raisins, cocoa, sweet, caramel
Finish: sweet, smooth, caramel, warming, medium dry, citrus, lemon zest
Mark: ++++/+

Conclusion: I was not good with conclusions this evening, but gave marks like a master...
