.the balvenie - 12yo - double wood

Day 16 of the Drinks by the Dram WhiskyAdvent Calendar 2015. If someone asks me what whisky they should buy as a step up from the average blend or the one single malt they have ever tasted, I normally advise to have a look at the Balvenie 12yo DoubleWood.

40% abv, €35, single malt

Nose: sweet, vanilla, honey, floral, honeycomb, fresh, slightly sour red berries, citrus, pomelo, yellow grapefruit, raisins, fresh herbs, basil, thyme
Palate: sweet, creamy, honey, citrus, pomelo, herbs, basil
Finish: medium long, gentle, creamy, sweet, vanilla, fruity, apples, citrus, oranges
Mark: ++++/+

Conclusion: a great example as a daily dram. We try to always have a bottle in our cabinet.

More info: After being matured in ex-Bourbon casks for at least 12 years, this has received a finish of six to twelve months in ex-Oloroso Sherry casks.

.many thanks to the kind people of Drinks by the Dram to let us review their 2015 advent calendar
