.mortlach - 18yo

Mortlach has been liked by many connoisseurs over the pas decades, and in order to expand this love for their product, Diageo has released a threesome of official bottlings. As a part of this release, the 18yo stands in the middle between the NAS rare old and the 25yo.

43.4% abv, €250*, single malt

Nose: sweet, vanilla, warm caramel, fruit, warm red apples, dark berries, brambles, warm cherries, fresh meat, nuts, hazelnuts
Palate: sweet, thick, creamy honey, a touch floral, a hint of heather, mocha, dark chocolate, nuts, hazelnuts
Finish: sweet, caramel, fudge, honey, dark chocolate, creamy, thick, nuts, hazelnuts
Mark: +++/++

Conclusion: dirty - exactly what I like in a Mortlach - covered in a too sweet layer of sweetness. Nice, but not what I expect of a €250+ whisky.

*per 50cl
