Nose: sweet, toffee, wet barley, breakfast cereal, floral, geraniums, fruit, apples, raisins, citrus, lemons
Palate: sweet, toffee, floral, fruit, apple juice, raisins, citrus, lemon
Finish: sweet, short, floral, geraniums
Mark: +++++
Conclusion: rather average dram. It is quite likeable, a good daily dram. personally I think it would have gained body from an abv of 46%.
More info: Like all other bottlings in the Macallan 1824 series, the whisky has matured solely in ex-Sherry casks. Amber has been composed of a mixture of a American and European oak first fill and refill ex-Sherry casks, with an unknown percentage of each. Sadly, the new core range of the Macallan - comprised of Gold, Amber, Sienna, Ruby and M, have been released with a no-age statement. This is most likely done because of the lack of mature spirit and is marketed with "if the spirit is ready, the age does not matter".

Nice review. Spotted a bottle of this in local store and was wondering what it was like. The ever increasing no-age statement releases continue. If only we all agreed that all spirit released in this guise was "ready". Sadly the truth is that more sales can mean less quality.
