The bottle states "1st Chapter in a Four Part Story", distilled in 1997 - after a short period in which the distillery was closed. Coming three years the distillery will release three more chapters in a similar, limited release by a 16, 17 and 18 year old.

Nose: medicinal, used leather, spices, mint, citrus, blood-oranges, milk chocolate, sweet, vanilla
Palate: spicy, hot, closed. With a splash of water added; sweet, milk chocolate, citrus, oranges, apples
Finish: old cheese, new leather, medium dry, firm, long, citrus

58,8% abv, €350, single malt

Nose: dark, seaweed, fruit, fresh, berries, citrus, mandarin, melon, wood, floral, violets
Palate: spicy, white pepper, sweet, vanilla, syrup, pineapple, citrus, mandarin, lemon zest, floral, geraniums
Finish: gentle, oily, short, FLORAL, geraniums, sweet, dry, slight bitter
Mark: +++++

Conclusion: not boring, but not my cup of tea either, way too floral for my taste.

afdronk: kort, licht bitter, met water wat langer, zuurder

conclusie: Niet erg goed nog.
Deze jonge whisky, volledig gerijpt op bourbon vaten, is de eerste officiële release sinds de heropening van de distilleerderij in 1997. Ze is een onlangs vervangen door de 12 jarige variant, welke een huwelijk is van bourbon en sherry vaten. Ik was eerder niet erg enthousiast over de 12, maar die gaat binnenkort in de herkansing.
