.glen elgin - 12 - flora and fauna

At the Glen Elgin distillery, when we visited in 2014, they were kind enough to allow us to explore this 'responsible driving' thing, and let me sample some of the drams they were pouring.

.glen elgin - 21yo - douglas laing - old particular 0051

51,5% abv, €110, single malt, non-chill filtered, natural colour

Nose: sweet, glue, dried fruits, raisins, heavy sweet sherry (I am thinking Pedro Ximénez), wood chips, nuts, fruits, apples, red fruits, ripe cherries, mint, menthol, eucalyptus
Palate: sweet, caramel, Werther's original, butter, nuts, walnuts, wood chips, medium dry, citrus, a hint of tannins
Finish: dry, sweet, slight bitter, marmalade, wood, nuts
Mark: ++++/+

.glen elgin - 17yo - milroys single cask

46% abv, €70, single malt

Nose: sweet, marzipan, citrus, lemon-peel, sweet oranges, fruit, pear, floral, violets, a whiff of anise
Palate: sweet, spicy, white pepper, cirtus, marmalade
Finish: spicy, warm, jalapeños, sour green apples, medium long, medium dry
Mark: +++++

Conclusion: Nice, can do with a splash of water.

More info: tasted during the #MilroysTT2 twitter tasting that was organised by @TheWhiskyWire. At first I thought this to be an Irish whisky, but it appeared to be a 17 year old Glen Elgin. Not my favourite of the evening, but a very nice drink overall.

Distilled on 07/11/1995, matured in hogshead 1669, bottled in 15/04/2013 into 348 bottles
