The Speyburn distillery has a history of creating whisky solely for the blenders around Scotland. Every now and then an independent bottler got hold of a cask or two and managed to fill a couple of bottles for us to enjoy. Gordon and Macphail are one of the better known bottlers and filled a series for their the Wood makes the Whisky philosophy.

46% abv, €100, single malt, non-chill filtered, natural colour

Nose: light, fresh, sweet, syrup, fresh fruit, apples, Granny Smith's apples, exotic fruit, pineapples, mangos, star fruit
Palate: sweet, honey, floral, honeysuckle, spicy, white pepper, fruit, apples, dried yellow fruits, yellow, plums, apricots, pineapples, mangos, citrus, oranges
Finish: long, warming, spicy, white pepper, laurel, thyme, star anise, a hint of liquorice in the far back
Mark: +++++ 

Conclusion: Very lovely, this.
