.pappy van winkle 15yo - family reserve

The Pappy van Winkle whiskies are distilled at the Buffalo Trace distillery in Kentucky following a special recipe and maturation. Because of the fairly low production, long maturation times (for bourbon) and high demand, she is often difficult to find, and at most opportunities, even more difficult to fund.

bourbon

Nose: sweet, nutty toffee, citrus, orange zest, marmalade, spicy, allspice, a touch of cinnamon, nuts, walnuts, cedar wood
Palate: sweet, brown sugar, toffee, marmalade, spicy, allspice, speculaas, wood chips, citrus, oranges, marmalade
Finish: long, sweet, brown sugar, citrus, oranges, marmalade
Mark: +++/++

Conclusion: Do not get me wrong, this is a great whisky, not bourbon-esque in the slightest, not inferior to any well-aged single malt, but... I don't know, there is no "oumpfh" it's just a good whisky. Overpriced, but very good.

*this is now a discontinued version of the Pappy van Winkle range, expect higher prices.

.many thanks to Shai for the sample.
