.the lost distillery blend - batch 6

In the Drinks by the Dram WhiskyAdvent Calendar 2015, we have met some well known friends, some new acquaintances, and some relatives of either. This dram is one of neither, really, and at the same time one of all of the above.

49.3% abv, €450+, blend

Nose: sweet, honey, fruit, green apples, exotic fruit, dried mangos, coconut shavings, dried pineapples, a hint of citrus, a hint of charcoal
Palate: sweet, toffee, fruit, apples, pineapple, dried mangos, spicy, cinnamon, allspice, creamy, salted butter, old leather, nuts, hazelnuts
Finish: long, creamy, salted butter, nuts, hazelnuts, that hint of charcoal again
Mark: ++++/+

Conclusion: Gawd. If this was the level of blends in the old days, it is about time we kidnap the doctor and go back a couple of decades. Fantastic stuff. I am not sure I would dig €450 deep, but I would dig a while to get hold of this, or one of her siblings.

More info: "She features malt whiskies from Mosstowie, Port Ellen, Glenisla, Imperial, Caperdonich, Glen Mhor and Brora, and grain whiskies from Port Dundas. All are ennobled and celebrated in their own right, with surviving stocks of their spirit becoming scarcer year on year. The Lost Distilleries Blend honours these gone-but-not-forgotten greats with impeccable balance and a sublime flavour profile worthy of their names.

This is a limited release of 534 bottles."

.many thanks to the kind people of Drinks by the Dram to let us review their 2015 advent calendar
