.highland park - 18yo - old particular #DL

For the twitter tasting #RockOyster, we received some samples from Douglas Laing that were a sketch of what could be added into their latest blended malt: the Rock Oyster.

48.4%% abv, €130, single malt, non-chill filtered, natural colour

Nose: sweet, marshmallows, liquorice, a hint of smoke, briny, sea water, red fruit, berries, cherries, cherry coke, cheap bubblegum
Palate: sweet, liquorice, slightly smoky, red fruit, cherries, berries, creamy mouth feel
Finish: medium long, slightly ashy
Mark: +++/++

Conclusion: As you might know, I am not a big Highland Park fan. The 18yo from the HP core range is one of my favourites from them, and although my notes are quite different, the core HP18 is as good as this one is in comparison, for easily €50 (and 5.8%) less...
