.talisker - 10

45,8% abv, €35, single malt, caramel E150a added

Nose: mild peat, sweet, briny, sharp, smoke, bacon, barbecue, fresh mint, eucalyptus, black tea, flowers, heather
Palate: mild peat, sweet, spicy, white pepper, fat, smooth, vanilla, flowers, violets, heather
Finish: medium long, sharp, sweet, very mild liquorice, anice, slightly metallic as from black tea
Score: +++++

Conclusion: there is peat alright, but not as we know from her sisters of the isle of Islay. With a few drops of water the nicer sweet and flowery notes get to see the light of day a little better. A nice, slightly peated malt.

I have revisited this malt after almost a year (still no full bottle), and must say that either she, or my sense of smell and taste have changed for the better.
