45% abv, €70, Canadian whisky

Nose: wood shavings, pencil shavings, marzipan, pine, rye, pear, citrus, pineapple, mint, anise
Palate: sweet, liquorish, star anise, honey, oily, pine, wood, rye, mint, eucalyptus, citrus, orange zest
Finish: mint, liquorish, wood and a hint of tannins and a hint of marmalade bitter
Mark: +++/++

Conclusion: I do like it, but I am not really sure how much I like it. It is different from Scotch Single Malt for sure, and with the rye influence she is rather sweet and attractive. She is only my second attempt in Canadian Whiskies, and so far, I am not disappointed.

More info: the best rye whisky found in Wiser's warehouses was married together and finished for 150 days in new white oak casks, to celebrate the 150 years' anniversary of the company. Limited to 6000 bottles in 2007, so I reckon they are all long gone by now. Too bad really. I would have liked to familiarise a little more.

41,3% abv, €25, Canadian whisky

Nose: sweet, rye, slight struck match, pine, ginger, spicy, cinnamon, butterscotch, wine-gums, dried fruit, prunes, apricots, celeriac, anise, liquorice
Palate: sweet, gentle, candied ginger, butter-like fat, rye-bread, butterscotch, fresh herbs, sage, spicy, fresh ginger, cinnamon, star-anise, citrus, orange zest, liquorice
Finish: Long, sweet, rye-bread, spicy, slight bitter, marmalade, citrus, orange zest, nuts, fresh walnuts, fresh hazelnuts
Mark: +++++

Conclusion: My very first Canadian whisky, and I am not disappointed. I like this.
The typical ex-Sherry characteristics do not dominate the whisky, just as the expected rye-notes that are there, but somewhere in the background-choir. Nicely balanced for my taste.
