.dalwhinnie - winters gold

Day 21 of the Drinks by the Dram WhiskyAdvent Calendar. This time, the door revealed the latest official release of the Dalwhinnie distillery. A dram that is said to come from matured stock that has been distileed between October and March, when the picturesque location of the distillery is normally covered in snow.

43% abv, €35, single malt

Nose: mild, sweet, caramel, nuts, chestnuts
Palate: sweet, toffees, caramel, nuts, chestnuts, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts
Finish: short, sweet, toffee, orange rind, marmalade
Mark: ++/+++

Conclusion: An 'okay' dram. Served cold, as suggested on the back of the bottle, it does not add any specific or outspoken flavours. If anything, freezing it will numb the flavours and make it less 'okay', although the mouthfeel gets somewhat more creamy.

.many thanks to the kind people of Drinks by the Dram to let us review their 2015 advent calendar
