.aberlour - 22yo - the maltman

Aberlour is not easily found as a single malt that is bottled a lot by your average independent bottler. Every now and then, a cask will appear and be bottled for us to enjoy. In this case, the Maltman has surprised us with a 22 year old Sherry bomb.

49.7% abv, €99*, single malt, non-chill filtered, natural colour

Nose: sweet, dried fruits, grapes, raisins, cranberries, dry red wine, sherry, dried grass
Palate: spicy, red peppers, dried fruits, berries, cranberries, raisins, citrus, blood-oranges, dark chocolate
Finish: dry, sherry dry, a touch of oak, very long...
Mark: +++++

Conclusion: here is a genuine Sherry bomb for you. The oak on the finish spoils the overall dram a bit, but she will be a very welcome addition for your average Oloroso Sherry matured whisky lover.

More info: Distilled in November 1992, matured in an ex-Oloroso-Sherry butt for 22 years, bottled in February 2015

*guess, based on other, similarly aged releases from the Maltman

Many thanks to Andy "the Maltman" Hart for the sample
