From the best distillery in the world [well, a great one at least; I love
Bruichladdich. Seriously, what is not to love] came the
Sherry Classic "fusion": Fernando de Castilla. A classic
ex-Bourbon-matured Bruichladdich that has been finished in an
ex-Sherry cask from the
Fernando de Castilla bodega's "remarkable antique" single solera series.
46% abv, €45, single malt, non-chill filtered, natural colour
Nose: cork, wood, sweet, toffee, salted butter, biscuits, Werther's original
Palate: spicy, white pepper, sweet, honey, floral, heather, dried fruits, raisins
Finish: spicy, wood, dried fruits, raisins, apricots, medium dry, long
Mark: +++++
Conclusion: Awesome stuff, sad to know it has been discontinued.
