.ardbeg - rollercoaster

57.3% abv, €250+, single malt, non-chill filtered, natural colour

Nose: starts fresh with notes of citrus and honey sweetness, but turns into a scent of musty mushrooms with a whiff of peatsmoke.
Palate: initially honey-sweet and floral. Turns into hot and spicy white peppers with a hint of mango.
Finish: a medium long finish with some white pepper again, a hit of ash and a slight metallic afterthought.
Mark: +++/++

Conclusion: I am not overly enthusiastic about this. My whisky-journey started some time ago after drinking an Ardbeg, but I never had the pleasure of trying this expression. If you can still find a closed bottle of the Rollercoaster, it will be at a pretty steep price, and I am pretty sure I am not willing to pay the price.

More info: composited out of casks from every year in between 1997 and 2006, released on Monday the 15th of February 2010, into 12000 bottles.
